We got up at 8 today. We had breakfast and headed to the beach. I had a fairly bad sunburn so I only stayed out for an hour. Lindsie couldn't handle much more so we went back to the room and started packing. We checked out at about 1pm. We headed over to visit the Whaler's Museum. I can't imagine being a whaler in the 1800. It looked like a pretty rought life. We were going to visit the aquarium but it was too expensive for our taste. We returned the car and headed to the airport. Our flight left at 8pm Hawaiin time and arrived at 6am SLC time. We were pretty disoriented but the actual flight was pretty good.

Saturday 3/20
Last full day here. Woke up early for breakfast of sausages and little smokeys! Then right to the beach for some swimming. Hung out most of the morning and listened to ipod while lindsie read. Hung out for about 3 hours and then came in for a nap. Headed back out at 3. I snorkeled and saw a sea turtle. He was beautiful! I snorkeled for about 1 hour and headed back in. Lindsie and I sat on the beach for another couple hours and I got a little burned. We saw more whales that couldn't be more than 150 yards off the beach. So fun! Tonight we'll do a little shopping and think about coming home.
Friday 3/20
Didn't do much today. Just hung around the pool and read. Ate at the hotel nice restaurant and had good lamb and fish.
Thurday 3/19
Woke up to overcast weather. We had breakfast at the mixed plate and got ready for the beach. It was actually pretty nice to be in overcast weather because we didn't burn. After about an hour it started sprinkling so we headed over to the pool and tiki club at the hotel for lunch. Since it looked like it would rain for awhile we got dressed and headed over to the whaler's village to explore. We found some fun things to look at and cheap beer and macadamia nuts.
Wednesday 3/18
Up at 7:30 so we're getting better at sleeping in. After a comfortable breakfast we got in the car and headed to South Maiu. Hmmm It was a lovely place to visit but wasn't our thing. We first went to (beach just north of big beach). We hung out in the shade on the beach but left after a couple hours. A family plopped down in front of us and we were turned off. We worked our way up to Sugar beach above Keihei and it was windy. After four hours in South Maui we left. We got back to our hotel and took a 2 hour nap. Afterward we went to the hotel pool, drank fancy drinks, and swam. There was another young pregnant couple we enjoyed seeing. I took a dip in the ocean. We pretty quickly
Tuesday 3/17
We were both up around 6am. I made a cup of coffee and sat on the beach. It was less crowded as it was an overcast day. We attended the welcome brunch that began promptly at 8am. They gave a resort preview and the food was pretty good. I know Islanders like their pork and I wasn't disappointed. They had a heaping "bin" of Corned Beef Hash which is a favorite of mine. Mom used to make it very occasionally as a kid. It was grand. They then began trying to sell some activities for other companies. It was slightly annoying but all activities at our hotel are free and they weren't pushy at all. Lindsie and I got up without feeling awkward.
After Breakfast we got dressed and drove to Lahanie to find a grocery store. We very quickly found a grocery store with reasonable prices. We bought sandwiches and macaroni salad, a few Biterbeers and hit the road. It was a perfect day for the Convertable Mustang and headed North. We tried the BlowHole first and couldn't find it. Instaed we found a weird field overlooking the Ocean with tons of Cairns. I mean literlly. So many cairns that you couldn't find a rock at all that wasn't part of a cairn. By this point I was pretty car sick. Still, we went a couple miles up to the Olivine Pools. It was a short walk down to the pools. There were a few shallow pools with fish and crab running around. We found the deep pool with butterfly fish and school of sunfish. One 18 inch fish seemed a little cramped in the pool. I swam with another guy and we chatted but nothing very interested. After the pools we drove back toward Kaanapali. We pulled over at DT Flemings beach and hung out for a few hours. It was a nice beach with a lifeguard and not very crowded at all. Again, it was overcast so it was slightly chilly so the swimming was limited. We ate our lunch here and read books. We left the beach at about 4pm and hit Lahaini to see the sights. It was a brutal combination of Mackinaw Island and what I imagine Coney Island to be. We didn't feel compelled to eat or buy anything. We got back to the hotel around 6pm. Beers. Safeway dinner. Porch to read and listen to the band.
Monday March 3/16
Paradise wakes up early. We woke up at 5pm to beautiful sounds of birds calling. The hotel has a very large courtyard that they take very good care of. Nolan walked to beach to beach comb and found yellow sea glass. We had breakfast at the hotel and got to the beach by 9:30. We swam and tanned. The beach is very crowded in front of our strip of hotels. We had lunch at the pool and took a nap. By 3pm we were back at the beach for another 3 hours of swimming, reading, and tanning. We were pretty tired and the end of the day so we ordered a pizza up to the hotel room. We were both asleep by 9pm.
Sunday March 15
After a seven hour flight we arrived in Maui at about 3:45pm. We immediately grabbed our rental car and started heading to West Maui. The drive was only about 45 minutes and absolutely beautiful. As we drove along the freeway we saw a pod of whales! It was very exciting to see humpbacks from the freeway. We arrived at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel at about 5 and were very kindly welcomed by Holly. The Kaanapali Beach Hotel is known for their kind employees and authentic atmosphere. We checked out the beach that evening and walked down to the Whaler's Village for nice dinner. I ordered an overpriced maitai as we watched the nightly concert in the courtyard. We went to bed at about 10pm.
